"My own opinion is that belief is the death of intelligence. As soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence.
The more certitude one assumes, the less there is left to think about, and a person sure of everything would never have any need to think about anything and might be considered clinically dead under current medical standards, where absence of brain activity is taken to mean that life has ended."

Freud's Psychosexual Stages of Development

Freud claims that all human beings goes through a certain development in childhood. This development can either leave traces in our behavioral pattern or not, depending on how our different stages of crisis are met.

A claim is that all people will have some traces of some of these"symptoms" in their personality, variating in degree and outcome.

Curious about yourself?:
The Freud Test

Oral stage

Adult character: highly dependent/highly independent. If baby becomes fixated at this stage Freud felt that he or she would grow to be an oral character. Mostly these people are very dependent and passive people who want everything done for them.
The Oral receptive personality is preoccupied with eating/drinking and reduces tension through oral activity such as eating, drinking, smoking, biting nails. They are generally passive, needy and sensitive to rejection. They will easily 'swallow' other people's ideas.

However Freud also suggests that another type of oral character is the person who is highly independent and that when under stress the orally fixated person may flip from one type to the other. This exemplifies FreudÂ’s doctrine of opposites.
The Oral aggressive personality is hostile and verbally abusive to others, using mouth-based aggression.

Anal Stage

Adult character:
anally retentive : rigid, overly organised, subservient to authority.
The Anal retentive personality
is stingy, with a compulsive seeking of order and tidiness. The person is generally stubborn and perfectionist.
Phallic Stage
Adult character: promiscuous and amoral/ asexual and puritanical (Doctrine of opposites again) Sexual fixation.
vs. anally expulsive : little self-control,disorganizedd, defiant, hostile.
The Anal expulsive personality is an opposite of the Anal retentive personality, and has a lack of self control, being generally messy and careless.

Phallic Stage

Adult character: promiscuous and amoral/ asexual and puritanical (Doctrine of opposites again) Sexual fixation.

Genital stage

Adult character: The genital character is not fixed at an earlier stage. This is the person who has worked it all out. This person is psychologically well-adjusted and balanced. According to Freud to achieve this state you need to have a balance of both love and work

If you have had problems during any of the psychosexual stages which are not effectively resolved, then you will become fixated at one of the earlier stages and when under stress will regress more and more to characteristics of that stage.

I am not a fan of "rules for conduct"
But there were a few good advices here
xxx
Aasa

If somebody wants you, nothing can keep them away.
If they don't want you, nothing can make them stay.
Stop making excuses for a person and their behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to
be.

Slower is better. Never live your life for a somebody else. Instead find out what
makes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the person was not treating you as you
deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends". A friend wouldn't
mistreat a friend.

If you feel like he/she is stringing you along, then he/she probably is. Don't
stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself
a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person
you can control in a relationship is you.

You cannot change a persons behavior. Change comes from within.

Don't EVER make anybody feel they are more important than you are...Do not make him/her into a quasi-god. He/she is a human, nothing more nothing less.

Never let somebody else define who you are.

A person will only treat you the way you ALLOW them to treat you.

You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is two way
street.

You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute
about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new
relationship

You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship
consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone
complimentary...not supplementary.

Scared of being alone is what makes a lot of people stay in
relationships that are abusive or hurtful

You should know that you're the best thing that could ever happen to
anyone and if someone mistreats you, they'll miss out on a good thing. If
they were attracted to you in the 1st place, just know that they´re not the
only one - you have a lot of choices.
Make the right one - take care of your own heart....

Everything is nothing and nothing is everything

I wonder.
I wonder what reality really is.
....
I look around and I see so many faces.
Is what I see real?
Or am fooled by myself?
Is it real, the things I see, through that little filter called my eyes and brain? Or is it just perceptions, made up be me?
Maybe just one of 50000000000 ways to see it.

I feel it spinning sometimes.
Its feels like I am behind a grand veil, and I am trying to look behind it, but I cant - I only see shadows of what is real, and these shadows I have to give my own names and thoughts. I can´t grasp reality, I am too ME to see truly objective. To pushed down by what I have learned. I am trapped in a system of blood, pulse, brain....Past, emotions, interpretations. How can I cut through myself? How can anyone?

Sometimes I feel like its the other way around. Reality feels so real, so real that it almost hurts.
It feels like the meaning is to just BE, let go, flow, be one with all. Its like its all true, even the lies! The lies are truths and the truths are lies. It all blends and create a beautiful pattern called reality. (Do I even make sense now?)
This can seem so right, my entire self beats in tune with this sensation of just being!

But then, all of a sudden, I am back in the veil. And the world is illusions again. The world is what I make it -how I create it. My projections are powerful, almost so powerful that I dont want to know them. Something inside me is tempted to deny it and lie to myself. Because the perceptions make my life seem a fraud, they make it all look fake, a creation in my mind, my spirit, my subconsciousness. And in those times it all looks ugly. I am caged and I dont feel free. I want to escape this trap called "my mind" and be truly real! But what is that??

But sometimes I can see a track - a path. The pattern in my life takes me on a road. Its a web behind it all.
Maybe all of my observations are true at once - The veil and the flow. Its all true and a lie at once, and this inconsistency makes perfectly sense!
We humans seem to think that good and bad things, or opositions cant coexsist- The human brain wants simplicity, it wants black and white, not tones of grey.
We need to practice to see the grays as well.
I want to see them - Have the courage to try and not hide from reality. I want to find the truth!
But it seems so cruel and beautiful and it often scares me.
When I think I have found a truth, I cannot help to question it again, it seems like I never will find peace in just believing. But the world is alwasy changing, so why not the truths?

Its only one thing I know for sure and see clearly - The big responsibility I have -

I am given a life! -
its so huge!

Cruel and beautiful!

Loosing people and honorably goodbyes

Ahohohoa, argument, headache, and when I am hurt everything just pours out of me. I get mean, I guess, but I don't say anything that I haven't thought for a truth - always the truth, still - hurtful. But my temper, oh my! I am too much of a passionate person and it takes me away like the wind....When I ride the waves of emotion I am lost, not sensible at all.

I don´t like things like that. If I have had somebody in my life that meant something, I want to know that maybe I can chat with them now and then. We loose too many and turn our backs on many more.
Its sad.
But his silence hurt me so much, so,so, much.
I wonder if he understood that, really how much.

I always want to make friends after a fight, but it seems some people will not after you´ve said certain things to them. Then they will not forget. I forget to easily. (It must be my goldfish genes) I have a really wild temper, so I get super mad, but 2 min after I have calmed down I have forgotten the fight.

I always think one can talk things out and make amends, and this can make the relation grow and be closer, and I cannot not forgive somebody that asks my forgiveness.
But I guess in some situations it is just better to turn your back and leave too.
I don´t like fights, but who does, haha! - Difference is I always try to make it good even though maybe I shouldn't.

I feel to soft sometimes, to forgiving, to open, to much in want for things to be good between people.
Sometimes I wish I was harder and not so emotional
And that I could learn to shut up and not just let everything that is on my mind spill out! It´s mean to do that, but the words just jump out like fish trying to escape a frying-pan. I have never been able to sensor myself.

What I found out in the end, when I saw that he was unwilling to talk and leave this in a good way, I thought, "well, even if he doesn't want to, I can" .... So I sent him some last words, saying how I felt
- that I was sorry for how it became and if I hurt him, I never did it intentionally. That I hoped he could forgive me and that I wished the best for him.
These things were really true and how I felt it.

And when I could leave in a good honorable way, I felt I could let go.

I Never took any of my words back though, cause I meant all of them,
Still I didn't feel mad or angry at him anymore, just sad and maybe a trelief because it was all over and time for a true goodbye, and not a goodbye I would feel was "bad karma" or feel ashamed over.
I had done what I could in the end. Then he could just choose how he wanted to do it, it was not my responsibility

I could let go and release both myself and him in my mind!
Life is a little thingy
Life is a big chunck
Thats all I know

Livet er en liten dings
Livet er en stor klomp
Det er alt som jeg vet

This was fun. Try it out!

Aasa, your belief system is best suited to religions that value open mindedness

The religion that has the greatest affinity with your belief system is:

Your belief system is 92% compatible with Unitarian Universalist religious beliefs.

But did you know that even though Unitarian Universalists have mixed beliefs about the existence of God, they tend to share the belief that there is something to be learned from every world religion? It appears that you are also open to a wide variety of religious and spiritual ideas. By accepting differences between individual spiritual beliefs, Unitarian Universalists come together under a few broad and inclusive moral ideologies. They pass their beliefs from generation to generation through their church's literature and their teachings, both of which draw on many of the major spiritual texts from a variety of religions. Typically open-minded and intellectual, Unitarian Universalists encourage individual exploration of many different spiritual truths. They also tend to be politically liberal. It seems that you also see the importance of being open-minded and curious.

God
Unitarian Universalists have widely varying beliefs about God — from agnostic to polytheistic. As such, it is an extremely tolerant religion and welcomes diverse individual spiritual orientation and many views on the concept of God.

Origin of the World
Unitarian Universalism believes that the creation stories of all world religions are mythical — some adherents just enjoy them for their symbolism. The organization's official position on the origin of the world supports the big bang theory — that a cosmic explosion marked the beginning of the universe — and further scientific exploration.

Afterlife
Unitarian Universalist beliefs about the afterlife are as varied as their beliefs about God. For the most part, however, Unitarian Universalists do not believe that the soul is reincarnated after death. In fact, the organization's official position on the matter is disbelief in reincarnation, but a Unitarian Universalist church would not disapprove of a member's belief in reincarnation.

What makes it unique?

What sets Unitarian Universalism apart from other religions is their view on religious tolerance. The church is organized around a broad set of moral ideologies, which invites a diverse congregation that welcomes any member. Since members are actively encouraged to seek the spiritual truth that is most true for them as individuals, there is a diverse variety of ideas and this can be confusing or stimulating, depending on your perspective.

Your belief system is 92% compatible with Unitarian Universalist religious beliefs.
You're 69% compatible with Neo-Pagan beliefs.
You're 59% compatible with Native American religious beliefs.
You're 58% compatible with Buddhist beliefs.
You're 52% compatible with Baha'i beliefs.
You're 50% compatible with Spiritualist beliefs.
You're only 34% compatible with Christian beliefs.

Hm, surprising.
I always though it would be the other way around. With creative first and analytical second. Oh, well.Try it out you too, and maybe you will get some surprises. Tickle has a lot of good well-written and funny tests.

Personality test
Primary mode:

-Analytical-
As an Analytical type, your inquisitive nature helps you enjoy the complexities of life. You understand that sometimes there are no clear right and wrong answers, and that's okay with you because you tolerate gray areas better than most. In fact, pondering potential outcomes can sometimes be more interesting than coming up with the definitive solution for you. You march to your own drum and enjoy being in charge more than working and compromising with others. Nothing escapes your keen observational skills, and thinking is your idea of fun.

secondary mode:

-Creative-
As a Creative type, your ability to look at the world with a fresh perspective keeps life interesting for you and those around you. Instead of following the trends, you want to set them yourself. Establishing a routine is not your goal; you would rather go with the flow and see where your mood takes you that day. You love seeking new experiences and sensations. Your sensitive nature is often turned inward, but your passionate nature also means that you are prone to be impulsive at times.

Ladder theory and feminsim

Thank you for the great comment to my last post, men!
Its good you show that there are some cool guys out there too.
And I agree with you a lot.
A lot of the stuff the guy talks about works as a sharm, but that is not the point.
The point is that manipulation and deceive should never be the base of a relationship as I see it. If you cannot show that you are scared or need something, what support is there really then. This is the advice for those who search for relations with men who have nothing to give. Let us hope there are not too many of those.

When I read what he wrote it reminded me of the "ladder theory".
Its a lot of the same stuff, and to be quite open, I HATE IT!!!!!! Its some simple explanations and theories of manipulation. And it is taking our depths as humans and explaining it in LOW ways. Not to say that it doesn't work, because yes, in many ways this also does. BUT, the thing is that the real reasons for it working, and the greater depths of the psychics functions is left untouched. I HATE this theory for it shallow solutions and it manipulative suggestions.

All are welcome to disprove me and throw my opinions on the fire, he. he!

PS: Has somebody noticed that feminism is a very very touchy subject in our days. In Norway it is nearly a taboo, and if you call yourself a feminist it is met with a lot of prejudice. A man friend of mine says he is one, and that even stirrs more reactions here. I normally am met with a sceptic stare and the words that "feminism is not needed anymore"
Would be interesting to hear what experiences you have in other countries and also your opinions about this.

PS2: I am being quite opinionated and not very flexible, as I see it, in this matter. Also I am posting an insulting image.
Maybe sombody will yell "you lesbian feminsit bitch", to me again Ha ha! :P

Stranger in my home

As the last person getting my sleepy butt out of the airplane, I notices something crucially different - it freezes in the little pants I am wearing, and so does the rest of me. One thing is evident, I am back in the Ye old country of the Vikings.
They used to wear fur - smart littel buggers. but as I claim to be an animal defender, I am staggering along in my latex, and nylon and cryon - shivering...

It is one thing that is strange about returning to a place I have spent nearly all of my life - It feels as though I never left!
Walking through the streets of Oslo, looking at the things I have cast my eyes upon 12336,5 times before - I feel as if I never left this freezy place at all...the only difference is, at the same time I see it like I saw it for the first time :
Its not just the weather that is cold, the buildings look cold as well. The lines are minimalistic and strict, the colors in grey, earth and steel. It makes me shiver a little extra.
The train I am on is very posh, (if it is possible to say that about trains - but you know what I mean.) Compared to Spain, everything suddenly seems very posh - things I before looked upon as Normal.
It is also very strange to walk around and realize that almost everybody around me are Norwegian. I am not the exotic one anymore - I blend in with the crowd. It is good and bad at the same time.
Descending the train, I bump into a man, "Perdona me", I say automaticly - he gives me a long sceptic look.
Walking around in the streets, taking in the well-known atmosphere - I stare at the people around me, and all of a sudden I feel my roots - my home. It touches me, this is a totally new feeling for me. A thought so evident, yet always so far from my mind hits down on me - "this is where I am from". I walk around in this city, that is mine and not mine at the same time. And I look at the faces, so familiar, and yet so far away. Maybe they have gotten closer now, that I dont live here anymore.
And I realize one thing - I had to leave my own people, and the country I was born in, to feel a relation to it. I had to turn my back at it totally before I could call it home

But when looking around me, I feel that one hing has not changed, I see the faces, their conversations, what their lives are about, what they want and look for, and I know - I am still the outsider in this country.
- I am still a stranger in my home

The voices around

The voices in my head are bored. They are wondering if maybe a catastrophe of some kind could make it better of maybe a little quarrel, but there is nobody to disagree with around here. I reach out for my hand, but it seems like the meaning initially was that my hand was supposed to reach out for something, obviously my mind is confused and scared because of the voices. They say they will travel soon, something that relives me quite a bit, I hope they will go far, far away, so this unsettled feeling will leave me.
Maybe I can tear down something, or destroy something I say to myself. It would feel better then. Tiny little green ants are scattering up and down my arms, my legs, my muscles, all of my body, the walls, my entire room. I want to scream but at the same time I am calm, and I tell myself that it is quite silly to scream, since there is no reason to do so whatsoever and green ants doesn't exist and also, to think about it - in a sertain light, they even look a little funny running up and down my legs - Even though they dont exsist I mean. You have gone crazy now the voices says, but then I smile at them and laugh out loud. Hahahahaha! you are so stupid, if I was crazy I wouldnt be talking to you! - I answer. Or was that the wrong answer?I think I will not talk to them anymore now, they seem quite mean. I like to cry, somebody says, I like to be sad, I like to be angry, I like to be happy, I like pain, I like it all. Who the fuck is that talking I yell to the wall. The wall doesnt answer, so obviously it wasnt him. Well, talking or not, he sure looks mean, I say to myself.Damn, this corrupt world, its just full of mean walls and sneaky little assholes that want something from you, when do they not want anything? When?Alwasy something, if they dont want to fuck you, they want to use you to feel good in other ways, assholes! I am going to live alone in a cave, the voice says again. Don't be stupid, I answer the wall. How could you do that? I think you are pretty stuck here, you know. Then I laugh out loud, (I am being quite unsympathetic with him.) No, its not that difficult, the voice answers, its just to go, who can stop me??? Well, first of all, its kinda stops you a little that you have no legs, I think, but I say nothing, let him live in his own illusions, We all need some dreams, dont we? - Even walls do!
But at the present moment, I am just mad about everybody and anybody in general, even the wall - although I got a little pithy for him too. But no - damn him also. Right now I wanna be the shallow bitch. Its such a relief. Going around not even daring to step on aunts can be quite too much at times.

PS: For those of you who takes things a little too literally sometimes, remember: Blogging is often fiction :P

Yahoo Avavtars

I got this idea from Henry
He made a me that was very cute, and then of course I wanted to make one as well

And as I love playing with silly stuff, it didn end with just one. Here are a few I made:

If you want to do it too, just go to this page
You must have a Yahoo account to do it though

After making the forst one, I see that it is very similar to the one Henry made, haha, he must know my taste well :)

Night-time

I love the night
It has a special sound of silence to it.
I can rest in his silence, in his dark arms painted with stars
I often feel that I use too many words, think too much.
I try to grasp reality through analysis and explanations, because it confuses me.
I try to find it with my thoughts, but its out of reach. It slips and changes like the rolling tides.

In the night I just am.
I sit under the stars, the chilly air touches my skin,
I don't think, I don't say a word, I am just still.
Me in the night
Me and the silence I find
Together
And alone
At the same time

MAD!!!!

I am wondering what is going on with me lately. Its kinda strange. I seem to be very mad and find tiny little excuses to delete people from my contact lists or just erase them from my life in general. I must digg a little deeper into this, I guess, before I end up bitter and all alone, ha ha
Does somebody want to volunteer for being a screaming-object for me? ;)

Edward Munch

I am a great fan of the expressionist painters. One of the very best of them I find to be Edward Much (who was Norwegian by the way ;)
First I liked him for the pure and raw expression of his paintings. And as so many other artists, I like his late works the best.
Much of the goal for the expressionist were to capture the inner world through artistic work, something he does in an excellent way.
Later, after having looked at his paintings many times I started to discover so much more. I think he is brilliant in using composition, color, brush strokes, all of it, he is just a genius!
I recommend you all to look at some of his works
